About Dana

Dana Skoglund moved to Kelowna in August 2009 after living and teaching in New York City for 10 years. She is Advanced Certified in Jivamukti Yoga and is currently working towards her Anusara Yoga certification. Dana completed her Jivamukti certification with Sharon Gannon and David Life in 2005 before apprenticing with Paisley Fenyes. In New York she accumulated more than 800 hours of training, studying extensively with certified Anusara instructors John Friend, Desiree Rumbaugh, Ross Rayburn, Zhenja La Rosa, Elena Bower and Lois Nesbitt.  Dana has also recently studied with certified Anusara instructors Christina Sell and Amy Ippoliti. In her teaching Dana focuses on the healing attributes of yoga, working with students not only to improve their health but also to relieve pain and reduce injuries. Dana is also available for private sessions. 

 

Pauline Livingston

About Pauline

Yoga discovered Pauline in 1997 and she has been living, breathing and exploring yoga in its many forms ever since.  Some of these forms have included Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar, Ashtanga and Anusara Yoga. She has been inspired by many wonderful instructors including Certified Anusara Yoga Teachers Karen Sprute-Francovich, Christina Sell, Desiree Rumbaugh, Noah Maze, Robin Golt and Elissa Gumushel. Pauline has been teaching yoga since 2002 and completed her Level III Teacher Training in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga in 2003.  Pauline became an Anusara-Inspired™  yoga instructor in August 2011.  She has developed a teaching style which is flexible, playful, inquisitive and sensitive to the needs of her students.  An attitude of enjoyment while maintaining respect for the path of yoga are central themes in Pauline's teachings and in her personal practice. She is a great believer in the transformative power of yoga to create optimal physical, spiritual and emotional health!

Melissa Berry Appleton

 

 

About Melissa

Melissa is a dedicated yogi of many years, mother of three, wife, classical flutist/music enthusiast, free spirited traveler, and plant lover.

Melissa began her yoga teacher training in Toronto in 2006 with Michael Stone (Ashtanga), Michael Siddal (Anusara) and Judith Hanson Lasater (restorative).  After many hours of study and teacher training she has placed her heart deep in the highly refined practice of Anusara Yoga.

Melissa follows a yoga practice that encourages a soft opening to grace, refined principles of alignment and human intrinsic goodness. “I have faith that regular yoga practice ultimately has the potential to illuminate the greatest creative experience of a human life – at any age.   Yoga lifts my spirit beyond words, liberates my heart and gives me the courage to be adventurous in life.”

Melissa is inspired by the vast and intense athletic community in Kelowna and believes in the benefit of yoga for ultimate athletic performance and overall wellness.

She has nearly completed her Anusara Immersions and will begin the Anusara teacher training late this spring with Karen Sprute-Francovich.

Melissa enjoys and continues to study with Desiree Rumbaugh, Ross Rayburn, Dana Skoglund, Pauline Livingston, Sherie Amrita Cormier, the local Anusara Kula, as well as her teacher Karen Sprute - Francovich of Idaho.

 

Sherie Amrita Cormier

About Sherie Amrita

Sherie started her yogic journey in 2005 studying Ashtanga Yoga. In 2007 she attended a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification at Lion’s Breath Yoga in Edmonton and in 2009 Sherie traveled to Rishikesh, India, to study with Yogi Vishvketu. Here she earned her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Certification, and was given her name "Amrita". In 2009 she began studying Anusara Yoga and found that the offerings of Anusara Yoga were what she had been seeking. Sherie continues to diligently practice and study Anusara Yoga with her teacher Barrie Risman of Montreal and she has now completed her full Anusara Immersion and is undertaking the next step towards certification. Sherie’s inspirational teachers include Certified Anusara Yoga teachers John Friend, Barrie Risman, Robin Golt, Darcy Lyon, Todd Norian and Ann Greene as well as teachers Geordie Milne, Jana Rene Derges, Dawn Lamothe, Ron Reid, Diane Bruni, David Swenson, Doug Swenson, Natasha Rizopolous, Shri H.H. Shivkrupanand Swami, Paul Broomfield, and Michelle Desnoyers. Life is amazing! Hari Om.

Sherie has accepted a contract in Alberta (February - September 2012) so she will only be at the studio to teach some of the Friday Warm Flow Classes.  Contact the studio if you would like to know which classes she will be instructing.
